Careers![]() All our students at Dixons Allerton Academy are given the opportunity to undertake 2 weeks work experience during year 11. These work placements are usually arranged by the school; however students wishing to find their own placements are encouraged to do so and are given help and advice to enable them to do this. We work hard to accommodate the very diverse range of requests for work placements from our students. Work placements can also be arranged for students in year 12 where appropriate. All work placements are arranged through the Work experience Coordinator with the help of Education Bradford, who between them ensure that all placements and contacts at the placement are fully vetted. All students will have at least one individual meeting with the Work Experience Coordinator and where needed will have follow up meetings to help determine the most suitable placement for their needs. Work experience helps students to understand what it is like to work in a particular job and also helps develop skills and attitudes that are essential for the world of work. It also helps many of our students decide on what they would like to do for a future career. Work experience is invaluable in helping to prepare our students for adult life and helps to shape their ideas about their future aspirations and achievements. We also ensure that our students are given sound careers advice to help provide them with the knowledge and skills they need to make informed choices. The careers advice we offer our students is impartial and carefully considers their personal abilities, needs and preferences. It is motivating and it raises aspirations — by providing clear goals and by encouraging them to participate in learning and to work hard towards the qualifications that reflect their potential. |
