Music

Dixons Music Primary is the first primary school in the country with a music specialism.  We believe that a firm grounding in music at a young age will help children with a wide range of skills including listening, reading and maths as well as growing confident learners who have a real passion for music.

As well as having music embedded throughout our curriculum, we use highly skilled musicians from Learn to Rock who teach pupils in small groups.  Children learn how to handle and play instruments, singing, drama skills and performance techniques.  Currently our reception children are learning keyboards, hand bells, djembe drums and singing.  As children move further up the school, they will be given choices as to which instruments they learn.  Instruments include the electric guitar, saxophone and drums.

Learn to Rock also run our after school clubs.  From dancing to singing and drama to keyboards, children receive expert tuition and are work towards a concert which will be held in the theatre.
