In January 2016, I was appointed as Principal. Prior to my appointment, to observe outstanding practices, I spent time looking at the Charter Schools in New York and Boston. I also spent 4 weeks in our Dixons Ofsted rated ‘outstanding’ and ‘good’ schools. I have used these experiences to create a values-driven, ‘charter’ school that will allow scholars to achieve and develop character. The ‘charter school’ model is much more suited to ages 11-16, but is not as appropriate for either our primary phase or our KS5 scholars. Although we are an all-through academy, I want our Primary, Secondary and KS5 phases to have unique and distinctive flavours based upon a common vision and mission. Finally, I am extremely proud and privileged to be the Principal of DAA. I am determined to make a positive and long-lasting contribution to the local community.
