Assistant Vice Principal and DSL
Marcus qualified as a PE teacher in 2001, starting his career in Leeds and quickly progressing to Head of Department in 2003. He led the department to an outstanding Ofsted grade following a subject inspection in 2011.
In September of 2012 he took on the role of Assistant Principal at Dixons Allerton Academy in its last year before the move to the new building. He was responsible for driving the academies specialism of health and science; careers and in partnership with a colleague, teaching and learning. The culture of CPD shifted towards small group teaching and learning communities.
Once in the new build, he took on the role of DSL for 2 years before moving to leading on Post-16. The provision was re-visioned and the foundations were laid for the improving outcomes we have achieved over recent years at KS5. Marcus then led on driving the morning collective learning and has been part of the team that has seen outcomes for scholars improve at KS4.
Currently he is DSL and responsible for inclusion and attendance. Marcus is passionate about the welfare of our children and challenging the educational and social disadvantage that some of our scholars face.
