Post 16 tuition funding statement
Dixons Allerton Academy has been granted funding to ensure that post 16 students receive tuition to close the learning gaps in English and mathematics (not achieving a grade 4 or above in GCSE English or maths) and in their vocational level 3 subjects, as a result of the COVID pandemic.
The academy's plan is to employ tutors to deliver small group and one-to-one catch up sessions for disadvantaged students, and students whose lives have been directly impacted by the pandemic. These sessions will focus on maths and English in order to ensure students are able to progress on to Higher Education, Apprenticeships or training, and to pursue the courses that they intended to study before the pandemic interrupted their learning.
The academy intends to use the funds to employ tutors who were previously students at Dixons Allerton Academy and now studying at university. This aims to ensure that we work with, and for the benefit of, our community and our former students.
Our former students are then also able to 'give back' to our students, the academy and our community.
